#1 - "Wake Me Up When September Ends"

Summer has come and past,

Your gaze wanders to the little brunette as he toddles toward you, and you smile, delighted.
If there was one thing you enjoyed about returning to school, it was that it brought Eren back into your life.

The innocent can never last,

Looking at that decrepit building again draws a sigh from your lips; It looks worse now than ever.
Facing forward as a shout is heard, you adjust your grip on your horse's reins, your jittery hands fighting off the chill of early autumn.
Out of the corner of your eye, you spot that self-same tuft of brunette hair.
And you smile.

Wake me up when September ends.



#2 - Lingering

When someone joined the Survey Corps, they branded the notion of not returning into that recruit's mind.
Fearful of that, you developed a new habit.
Whenever you strapped on your gear, your fingers would purposely brush over the leather of each buckle, tracing the details on the hide.
Whenever you prepared to leave somewhere, you would walk slowly so your eyes and ears could experience everything within that said place.
Whenever you met someone, you would ensure the meeting stretched more than necessary.
So naturally, when you encountered your first Titan...
You lingered longer than you should have.



#3 - History

Eren never understood why you were fascinated by history.
He didn't think anyone would consider looking at fossils particularly interesting, but perhaps in another life, he would have appreciated your love of the past.
But as it is, he can't stand thinking of what had happened to result in him standing where he was now, gazing down at an angular lump of rock.
Upon it, words are listed, words that represent humans.
Upon it sits the only words that could show the next generation that you too lost your life in history to better the future.
